The Royal Works. A Souvenir of the Neptune Party Held 20 May, 1936 In the United States Ship Lexington. Stiff wraps, pub. 1936, 72 pages. Covers soiled, small tears at edges, small area on upper left of front cover where there may have been an old price sticker, six signatures in the autograph section. The USS Lexington (CV-2) was commissioned in 1927, took and active part in the development of carrier techniques, was in the Pacific at the beginning of WWII and was sunk at the Coral Sea in 1942. Many photographs of the Neptune Party held when the vessel would cross the equator. Includes complete crew roster. Officers on the vessel Captain Aubrey W. Fitch (later an admiral), Ralph Wood, Gerald Bogan, Ralph Davison (later admirals), a passenger Captain John S. McCain (later an admiral and grandfather of the late Sen. John McCain). Note the biplanes on the deck and in the air. Very rare pre-WWII item. I will ship via Priority Mail due to the value of this item. Will ship to APO or FPO.
