Beautifull and complete set of the Chilean Merit Order, Grand Cross grade.
The Order of Merit of Chile is an order created in 1929. It succeeded the Medal of Merit, which was created during the mandate of President Germán Riesco through the decree of the Minister of War No. 1350 of September 4, 1906.
This new national distinction was created to recognize the meritorious services of foreigners towards Chile.
The degree of "Grand Cross" may be conferred on Ambassadors, Ministers of State, Presidents of Legislative Chambers, Presidents of Supreme Courts, Commanders in Chief of the Armed Forces and other senior officials of similar hierarchy.
