In 1915 the Canadian Army finally recognized that the Oliver equipment adopted in 1899 was a failure.  Unable to produce their own Mills web equipment, the Canadians opted to modify the 1915.   This second pattern ammunition pouch was the only completely new item in the 1915 equipment.  Two pouches were normally worn with this set. According to references, 50,000 sets of 1899 Oliver equipment were converted to 1915 configuration, but since each new set used two pouches instead of one, that left them short 25,000 pouches.  These Mk II pouches were designed to make up the difference.
Pouch measures 7 inches wide, 6 1/2 inches high, with a 2 1/4 inch gusset.
