    Description

This sale is for an enamel Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI/DI) for the 7th Engineer Battalion of the US Army dating to about the mid-1950s. The pin is marked on the back- "Denmark N.Y. 6D", for
Denmark’s Military Equipment Corporation of New York and Astoria, NY. "6D" was the production code for the company and began appearing on DIs in the early to mid 1950s. This is the clutch-back version. The item is in excellent condition and measures regulation size at 1 X 1 1/8 inches.
The design for this DI dates to August 27, 1926, when the Army approved the design. The unit was originally organized during the Civil War, and its crest draws heavily on heraldic imagery from its Civil War, Mexican War, and WWI service. In WWII, this unit saw service in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe.
This insignia ships free USPS First Class mail.
